Henri Cartier-Bresson

I have always loved the photography of Henri Cartier-Bresson and have chosen to do my project on him. I have always been in awe of his ability to capture the "decisive moment" in his work.

He also has an interesting background. He traveled the world, was a prisoner of war, and used his work to promote social justice.

Overall, I am interested in Cartier-Bresson because of how much he intertwined his own personal experiences and principles into his work. While this notion is not exactly uncommon, he was able to convey his ideas by combining photo journalism and fine art photography. As a result, his images are both astonishing and deliver important messages.

Indoor Picture

This is the first picture I took without a flash. It is a bobblehead.

This is what the picture looks like after I played with the lighting in Picasa. I first changed the fill light of the photograph slightly. Next, I increased the color temperature and highlights of the photograph. I played with the shadows a little bit, but realized it wasn't very helpful. I think the end product looks much better than how it looked initially.

Object Letters

I had a hard time figuring out an object to use for the letter K, but I got creative. I used Picasa and Picnik and added a "glow" to the letters. This was a pretty fun assignment!

Logo Design

I have always been obsessed with robots, and I really like this photo that I took.

Lighting

I liked this photo, but the lighting bothered me a little bit.

I feel like this photo looks better and it even looks like it was taken at a different time during the day. It really seems to change the mood of the photo.

Cropped Image

This is my original photo from unit one.

This is the photo after I cropped it in Picasa. I think I like the original a little bit better, but at the same time it seems to change the tone of the photo quite a bit.
